Senior Contracts Engineer - Power Plant - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Ref:NK/12860 Digby Morris' client is a global consulting and engineering company, their expertise extends to the fields of energy, industry, transportation, water, environment and real estate. The Project Our client has been selected by the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to provide Consultancy and Engineering Services for a major power plant based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is a non-exclusive framework contract valid for three years with a possibility of two years' extension. They will perform various engineering tasks partially on a lump sum basis and partially on unit rate basis for thermal power plants. The work will be assigned by individual service orders for specific projects of SEC, which is a joint-stock company with headquarters in Riyadh and is engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity across the kingdom. The project consists of two blocks of 5 Gas Turbine Generators which will retain the ability to operate in the simple cycle mode in the event of operating problems with the Combined Cycle portion. Responsibilities *Review tender contract, create, update and maintain checklist template. *Co-ordinate feedback session with Project Manager, Site Manager and Client regarding key legal contract issues concerning company. *Liaise with Company Lawyer, for clarification and direction about legal aspects and liabilities. *If necessary prepare correspondence requesting Client to provide amendments to the original contract. *Prepare contract templates if required based on the contract. *In conjunction with Project Manager and Site manager review contractual obligations and contract templates. *Attend weekly site meetings providing advice re: NOD's, EOT's, Sub contracts, and or in conjunction with Project Manager and Site Manager prepare and forward relevant notices within nominated timeframes. *Notify client formally where issues, special circumstances or breaches of contract have taken place. *Review contracts, for suppliers and subcontractors, highlighting relevant issues specific to the job. *Investigate unpaid claims by client to establish responsibility based on contract provisions or onsite errors *Finalise claim investigation and update information in the system. *Provide response to invoices for damage and follow up and finalise claim. *Stay informed and up to date with any changes relating to Standards/Regulations, Applicable legislations and Construction Contracts. *Actively support the Project Manager and Site Manager in the day to day management of the project. *Be prepared to assist other Company Personnel as required/requested. Required *BSc Quantity Surveying or similar *Previous Middle East experience *Well versed with FIDIC's Turnkey/EPC Contracts and proficient in MS Office *Min. 15 years of experience in multi-discipline and multi-national projects *Team player and good communication skills Package The company trust and empower their people, treating them with respect and dignity.
